WE PLACE, RESTORE, AND MAINTAIN DENTAL IMPLANTS
Lida M. Vargas, DDS is a one stop location for implant dental services. This is in sharp contrast to many general dentists who refer their implant surgery patients to an entirely different dental office. It is comforting for the patient to know that our office performs all surgical implant procedures and place all cosmetic dentistry procedures on top of the implants as well. By being both a surgeon and a restorative dentist, many of the problems associated with multiple doctor approach to dental care can be avoided.

ORTHODONTICS
It's never too late to seek orthodontic treatment! Many adults now
seek orthodontic treatment to correct conditions that were not corrected
when they were children. Some come with simple cosmetic concerns
about their front teeth. Some come with a great smile, but with
functional problems that cause chewing problems. Others come with
headaches that are related to their malocclusion. There are some
limitations to adult orthodontic treatment, but there are valuable benefits
as well. We treat patients of all ages and recommends treatment
that is appropriate for their age.
ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT WITH INVISALIGN®
We use the Invisalign® system to do orthodontic treatments at our office. Invisalign is the clear way of straightening teeth without the use of wire braces. Invisalign® uses a series of nearly undetectable, custom made aligners. Here are some of the benefits of using Invisalign:

CLEANING
As with routine dental examinations, the frequency of professional teeth cleaning will depend on the health of your teeth and gums. Healthy children and adults should have their teeth cleaned at least once every six (6) months.
IMPLANT RESTORATION
Implant replacement of teeth is a surgical procedure that attaches an artificial tooth directly to the jaw bone without damaging neighboring tooth structures. This minor surgery restores the function and appearance of the tooth to approximate 95% of that of natural teeth compared to 65% from bridge restorations or 45% from removable restorations. This is why dental implants have become the standard of care for tooth replacement. Compared to other dental practices that referred their patients to an oral surgeon for implant placement, we do the surgery in our office and then do the final restoration of the implant crown. We also have the technology in our office to plan the surgery in advanced using a three dimensional digital model of the patient’s skull. This allows us to perform a safer surgery.

CEREC® RESTORATIONS (one visit crowns and onlays)
Our office is proud to offer our patients, same day, all porcelain restorations (crowns, onlays, veneers) by using our CEREC ® 3D system. This system allows us to give the patient a natural colored, biocompatible ceramic restoration in just one visit. There is no longer the need for a second appointment.
The CEREC® system has been in use for the past 20 years and today there are over 10,000 units in use worldwide, one of them is in our office and the first in Virginia
Crowns - Type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cup over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. In comparison, fillings are dental restorations that fill in or cover over just a portion of a tooth. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth's new outer surface.
Veneers - Porcelain veneers are the best way to change your smile with long term success. The size, shape, and color can be modified to fit your desires. Often, the adjacent teeth are whitened using one of our whitening options prior to the placement of porcelain veneers. We use the newest porcelain veneer technology in the industry.
Root Canals - Today, with a special dental procedure called a root canal therapy you may save that tooth. Inside each tooth is the pulp which provides nutrients and nerves to the tooth, it runs like a thread down through the root. When the pulp is diseased or injured, the pulp tissue dies. If you don't remove it, your tooth gets infected and you could lose it. After the dentist removes the pulp, the root canal is cleaned and sealed off to protect it. Then your dentist places a crown over the tooth to help make it stronger. Most of the time, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort involving one to three visits. Best of all, it can save your tooth and your smile!
Dentures & Denture Repairs - As much as we all would like to keep our teeth for a lifetime, the reality is that in some instances a removable dental appliance is the only option. Complete and partial dentures are a big decision and we fully explain all options so you are confident that you are making the right decision for you.
If you've lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. You'll be able to eat and speak - things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost.
There are various types of complete dentures. A conventional full denture is made and placed in the patient's mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and tissues have healed which may take several months. An immediate complete denture is inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. The dentist takes measurements and makes models of the patient's jaws during a preliminary visit. With immediate dentures, the denture wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.
Even if you wear full dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque.
Whitening - Everybody loves a bright white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures available to help you improve the look of yours. Many people are satisfied with the sparkle they get from brushing twice daily with a fluoride-containing toothpaste, cleaning between their teeth once a day and the regular cleanings at your dentist's office. If you decide you would like to go beyond this to make your smile look brighter, you should investigate all of your options. You can take several approaches to whiten your smile:
